Women's Lacrosse Falls to Penn St.-Abington 16-12

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Lacrosse team lost to conference-leading Penn St.-Abington on Friday at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex by the score of 16-12.

Elizabeth Sherman scored a career-high four goals for Keuka College (5-7, 4-4 NEAC) on Friday. Kendall Neuberger and Abigail Wood each added a pair of goals. Ally Thayer made 15 saves for the Wolves in the loss.

Keuka College 12 vs. Penn St.-Abington 16

Kendall Neuberger scored for the Wolves 1:19 into the game to take the early lead. However the Nittany Lions scored three straight to take the lead. Keuka scored two of the next three, capped by a Neuberger goal to draw the margin to one, 4-3 with 10 minutes left in the half. Penn St.-Abington outscored Keuka College 5-1 over the final 10 minutes of the half to lead 9-4 at the break. The Nittany Lions pushed their lead to 13-5 in the second half before Keuka attempted a comeback. The Wolves trailed 16-8 with 10 minutes left in the game. The Green and Gold scored four straight to make it a 16-12 game, but the Nittany Lions would hold Keuka off the board for the final six minutes to secure their 16-12 victory over Keuka College.

Taking Advantage: Keuka College's attempted second half comeback was paced by free position shots. The Wolves went 6-7 on free positions in the half. Overall, Keuka College scored seven free position goals, the most in a game this season

  • Friday was Penn St.-Abington's first win over Keuka College. The Wolves hold the series advantage 7-1
  • The seven free position goals by Keuka was the third most ever in a game
  • Ally Thayer added to her season save total with 15 on Friday. She now has 134 on the season, second most in program history
  • Elizabeth Sherman tied the school record with four free position goals against the Nittany Lions
  • Sherman's four free position goals was the most ever scored by a Keuka College player at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex

Coming up for Keuka College: The Wolves play their final game of the 2017 regular season on Saturday at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex. Keuka College will host Bryn Athyn College at 1pm in a game with major postseason implications.
