Wolves Come Up Short Against Alfred in E8 Play

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Lacrosse team dropped their Empire 8 opener at home, falling 10-7 to Alfred University on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Lainie Forde led Keuka College with four goals and an assist. Liz Spin added two goals and two assists, while Raegan Weissinger chipped in a goal for the Wolves. In goal, Lauren Vitello made 16 saves for the Green and Gold.

Keuka College (2-5, 0-2 E8) came out strong early as Forde scored twice in the opening quarter, with both goals off assists from Spin. Alfred University (5-2, 2-0 E8) however scored three goals of there own to hold a slight 3-2 advantage after one.
The Saxons opened the second quarter strong, scoring back-to-back goals with eight minutes remaining. The Wolves responded with a strong run, as Lainie Forde  and Liz Spin each scored before Forde added another off a feed from Rylie Pratt to erase the three-goal deficit and tie the game 5-5 heading into halftime.
Alfred regained control in the third quarter, scoring four times in the frame. Spin added her second goal of the game for Keuka College, but the Saxons built a 9-6 advantage entering the final period.
In the fourth, Alfred added an insurance goal before Weissinger converted on a free-position attempt for the Wolves. Keuka continued to push late, but could not close the gap as Alfred secured the 10-7 victory.
 
KC Notes:
  • The Wolves move to 9-8 all-time against the Saxons
  • Jessica Miller tallied four caused turnovers, tying her career high set in the previous game against SUNY Poly
  • After her performance today, Forde extended her goal streak to seven straight games
