Leadership & Success

Keuka College student-athletes and fans

Leadership, success, and student development programs and services are led by Rachel Fiser, Leadership Programming Coordinator and Head Women's Volleyball Coach.

Each year, we send four students to the Empire 8 Leadership Summit and regularly engage with NCAA programming. This includes sending two students and one coach to the 2024 NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C.

Our student-athletes are strongly supported, and encouraged, to seize opportunities across campus. Many have held leadership roles as Presidents of student clubs or organizations, been active on the Student Senate, and have been hired as Resident Assistants, Orientation and Peer Mentors, or other key student positions.

How We Build Leaders

Leadership and success programming is one part of Performance360, supporting student-athletes through leadership opportunities, academic support, service, and connection across campus.

Leadership Programming

Student-athletes engage in leadership opportunities through Empire 8 and NCAA programming, campus leadership roles, DISC assessments, and team-building sessions.

Student-Athlete Voice

SAAC gives student-athletes a way to communicate ideas to athletic administration, represent their teams, and contribute to the Keuka College community.

Service & Success

Student-athletes are supported academically and encouraged to serve the campus and local community through team-focused service opportunities.

Team-building and alternative leadership programming designed to strengthen cohesion, communication, trust, and confidence.

Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

The mission of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting academic excellence, sportsmanship, and service within the community. SAAC provides all athletes with a way to communicate their ideas to athletic administration and with all other student-athletes. SAAC seeks to help athletes become leaders within the committee, their team, and the community.

SAAC is made up of student-athlete representatives from each of Keuka's varsity teams. They act as a liaison between the athletic department and their team regarding the needs and concerns that impact their academic performance, athletic concerns, and personal well-being. Members of the committee also act as a liaison to the Empire 8 Conference and Keuka community by providing information and suggestions on the unique needs and accomplishments of Keuka's student-athletes.

Academic Support

Keuka College is dedicated to maximizing the academic potential of their student-athletes. KC prides itself on close, personalized experiences and support. One of our biggest differentiators is our Field Period®, where students will be coached and supported on getting real, hands-on experience.

Support services at Keuka College are intended to help student-athletes reach their goals and enhance their academic performance through existing campus resources.

The Assistant Director of Athletics works closely with the coaching staff to monitor academic progress and communicate regularly with all members of the student’s success network.

Keuka supports students through a variety of services, including peer tutoring, writing instruction, student accessibility services, team study halls, career development and coordinated care.

Community Service

Service isn't something we do—it’s who we are. Wolves athletic teams participate in team-focused service opportunities including Celebrate Service… Celebrate Yates, Special Olympics event support, Veteran’s Day celebrations, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, concessions for Thirst Project, Outlet Trail cleanup, and awareness games.

National Recognition

In 2015, the Department of Athletics received national recognition for service by the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators (NADIIIAA). The same organization recognized the department in 2023 and again in 2024.

Faculty Athletic Rep

Lisa Hochadel, Assistant Professor of Accounting, serves as the Wolves FAR. She acts as a bridge between student-athletes and faculty. If academic issues ever arise - such as class conflicts, academic performance, or communication between faculty, staff, and the student-athlete, the FAR serves as an additional support.

Lead With Purpose. Succeed Beyond Sport.

Performance360 connects leadership, academic success, service, and personal growth so student-athletes can develop tools and skills that serve them well beyond their athletic careers at Keuka College.
