Keuka College Baseball Sweeps Crown College in Florida

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Keuka College Baseball team earned their first wins of the season, sweeping Crown College from Minnesota 16-7 and 4-1 on their annual spring trip to Florida.

Dakota Skinner, Tyler Krowiak, Jake Redding, and John Rizzo each had three hits on the day for the Wolves. Skinner and Krowiak each scored two runs and drove in two runs in the wins.

On the mound, Bryan Johnsen and Ryan Lawrence each earned the wins for Keuka College. Junior Kevin Franz picked up the save in Game 1.

Keuka College took advantage of walks to take an early leads as a pair of a three run second inning. Two runs were walked in by the Storm and a third run was added. After Crown College got one back, the Wolves plated three more in the fourth. The game pinged back and forth as Crown scored three in the bottom of the fourth. Keuka had a pair in the fifth that was answered by two Storm runs in the bottom of the inning. Sensing the victory, Keuka College put the game away in the later innings. The Wolves outscored Crown 8-1 over the final two innings to secure the 16-7 victory.

Lead Wolf: Sophomore Dan Bamann went 2-4 at the plate for Keuka College in the win. He contributed to six runs for the Wolves with a run scored and a career-high five runs batted in.

The Wolves out looking for the sweep and got early run support with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning on a single by Tyler Krowiak. Crown College made it a one-run game in the fourth, but the Wolves reestablished the two-run lead in the bottom of the frame thanks to an error by the Storm. Another error plated an insurance run for Keuka College in the sixth on their way to the 4-1 victory and sweep of Crown College.

Lead Wolf: Junior Ryan Lawrence was the star of Game 2 for Keuka College. The lefty pitcher threw the complete game on just 72 pitches. Lawrence allowed just three hits and an unearned run while striking out two.

Coming up for Keuka College: The Wolves finish their spring trip to Florida on Tuesday morning with a single, nine-inning game against Thomas College from Maine. The Terriers defeated the Wolves 5-4 last season and are 2-1 all-time against Keuka College.
