Box Score AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Keuka College Baseball team dropped their final game of their spring trip to Florida on Tuesday to Thomas College from Maine 5-4.
Keuka and Thomas was originally scheduled for a doubleheader, but the second game was called due to weather before becoming an official game.
Keuka College (6-6) will play their first game in New York on Thursday as they travel to Houghton College for a doubleheader. The Green and Gold will then open North Eastern Athletic Conference play on Saturday, hosting Cazenovia College at 1pm.
The Green and Gold got out to an early lead over the Terriers in the top of the second inning. Brett Fenton, Dakota Skinner, and John Rizzo all singled to load the bases for Keuka. With two outs, Robert LaRue walked to force in a run. Kyle Dailey followed that up with a single to centerfield to scored Skinner, giving Keuka a 2-0 lead.
Freshman Tyler Krowiak led off the third with his second double in as many days for Keuka. Billy McDermott brought him home with an RBI single. Thomas responded with a run in the fourth and two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to take a 5-3 lead going into the seventh.
Keuka led off the seventh with a walk. A pair of groundouts pushed the runner to third. With two outs, Skinner had an RBI single, but the closer for the Terriers got the next batter to fly out to end the game with Thomas defeating Keuka 5-4.
Jake Redding, Kyle Dailey, and Dakota Skinner all had a pair of hits for Keuka. James Matthews got the start on the mound for the Green and Gold. He pitched into the fourth inning and allowed only one run on four hits. The senior struck out three batters.
