Forshay's Career Game, Stellar Defense Lead Women's Lax

Ten student-athletes scored as the Keuka College women's lacrosse team remained perfect in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play with a 20-1 road win over Penn State-Abington Tuesday in Abington, Pa.

Sophomore Sydney Forshay (Clifton Springs, N.Y./Midlakes) scored a career-high six points on five goals with one assist, and senior Olivia Hudson (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) added five points (two goals, three assists) with four groundballs and two caused turnovers for the Wolfpack (9-2, 7-0 NEAC).

Senior Jennifer Burt (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) added four points (two goals, two assists) with three draw controls and two groundballs, junior Samantha Staino (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) had three goals with one assist, and senior Kaycee Maguire (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam) scored three goals with seven draw control wins for the Green and Gold.

Sophomore Maura Gosson (Syracuse, N.Y./Marcellus) scored one goal with one assist, as did freshmen Holly Henderson (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas) and Gabrielle Moshier (Johnson City, N.Y./Johnson City) as Keuka outshot Abington (4-7, 3-4) 37-8, including 24-0 in building a 14-0 halftime lead.

Sophomores Taylor Willsey (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) and Samantha Peacock (Phelps, N.Y./Midlakes) each scored a goal, while sophomore Kayla Robinson (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) made five saves to improve to 6-0.

Keuka extended its winning streak to five with the triumph over the Nittany Lions.

With two NEAC contests remaining, Keuka (7-0 NEAC) and Morrisville State (7-0) are tied for first place in the conference.

The Wolfpack host Bryn Athyn (Pa.) College at 4 p.m. Friday on Senior Day before traveling to Morrisville State for a 4 p.m. clash Saturday that could decide who wins the NEAC regular season title.

Keuka has won the NEAC postseason championship in five of the last six seasons.

Taking on the Nittany Lions, Maguire scored on a free position shot just 19 seconds in, Henderson fed Forshay for a 2-0 lead, and Hudson scored on a free position shot 31 seconds later to put the Green and Gold up 3-0.

Forshay then scored three goals in a span of 1:37 for a 6-0 lead just 3:53 into the contest, and the Wolfpack held Abington scoreless for the first 43:50 to remain undefeated in the NEAC.

The defense was led by Peacock, Moshier, Willsey, and seniors Maggie Mercurio (Whitesboro, N.Y./Whitesboro) and Anna Patton (Newark, N.Y./Newark).
