Balanced Women's Lax Wins NEAC Opener

The Keuka College women's lacrosse team has won five of the last six North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) postseason titles, and on Saturday, the Wolfpack kicked off NEAC play with a 22-1 over the College of St. Elizabeth in Penn Yan, N.Y.

Sophomore Sydney Forshay (Clifton Springs, N.Y./Midlakes) scored three goals with two assists, classmate Taylor Willsey (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) added three goals, and senior Olivia Hudson (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) scored two goals with three assists as the Wolfpack (2-0, 1-0 NEAC) had 14 student-athletes score a goal.

Sophomore Morgan Bruno (Seneca Falls, N.Y./Mynderse) and freshman Gabrielle Moshier (Johnson City, N.Y./Johnson City) each scored two goals with an assist, sophomore Samantha Peacock (Phelps, N.Y./Midlakes) had one goal with two assists, and classmate Maura Gosson (Syracuse, N.Y./Marcellus) scored two goals for the Green and Gold.

Senior Jennifer Burt (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) and junior Samantha Staino (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) each scored one goal with one assist for Keuka, which led 16-0 at halftime and outshot the Screaming Eagles (0-3, 0-2 NEAC) 38-3.

Keuka also got goals from seniors Kaycee Maguire (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam), Maggie Mercurio (Whitesboro, N.Y./Whitesboro), Anna Patton (Newark, N.Y./Newark) and Amanda Kubitz (Spencerport, N.Y./E.J. Wilson), and also from freshman Deanna Perry (Pembroke, N.Y./Pembroke).

Sophomore Kayla Robinson (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) made two saves to improve to 2-0.

Hudson fed Willsey for a tally just 18 seconds in, and Bruno, Burt, Forshay and Hudson each added goals as Keuka took a 5-0 lead 2:48 into the contest.

Forshay added back-to-back goals, and Maguire, Willsey, Gosson, Staino, Peacock, Mercurio, Moshier, Patton and Kubitz each found the back of the net as the Wolfpack scored 16 goals in the first 21:06.

Hudson won five draw controls and had two groundballs, Burt added four draw controls with two groundballs, and Gosson had six groundballs with two draw controls for the Green and Gold.

Keuka hosts Penn State-Abington at 1 p.m. Sunday on the turf at Penn Yan Academy.

The Wolfpack, who went 16-3 and set a school record for single-season wins in 2014, have earned a berth in the NCAA Division III tournament in each of the last two seasons.
