Box Score CORTLANDVILLE, N.Y — Playing in their first game back home in the state of New York, the Keuka College Baseball team defeated Cazenovia College 11-3 on Tuesday afternoon.
James Fino led the way on the mound for Keuka College (3-7, 0-0 Empire 8). The junior went six innings, allowing just one run on two hits and striking out three. At the plate, juniors
Matt Vaccaro and
RJ Murphy each had three hits in the win.
Keuka College 11 at Cazenovia College 3
Back-to-back singles by Vaccaro and Murphy in the top of the first set the pace for Keuka College on Tuesday. The Wolves plated their first run on an error, then
Josh Tryon and
Connor Springer each delivered RBI singles. The Wolves added a fourth run for the early advantage.
The Wolves added to their lead in the second as Vaccaro reached to lead off the inning.
RJ Murphy followed with his second triple of the year to score Vaccaro.
Nolan Quinn followed with his second RBI in as many innings to give the Wolves a 6-0 lead.
The runs were more than enough for Fino on the mound. He did not allow his first hit until two outs in the fourth inning. By that point, the Wolves have built an 8-0 lead with RBIs from Quinn and
Shane Daley.
Fino was one out away from throwing six shutout innings before the Wildcats got on the board with a run.
The Wolves added three in the eighth.
RJ Murphy had a two-run single and later scored on a sacrifice fly by
Connor Springer. Cazenovia responded with two in the bottom of the frame, but the game was in hand for the Wolves as Keuka College defeated Cazenovia College 11-3.

- Tuesday was the 61st meeting all-time between Keuka College and Cazenovia College, the most against a single team in Keuka College Baseball history, but it was also the first time facing each other since the 2019 season
- 14 hits and 11 runs is a season-high for the Green and Gold
- Matt Vaccaro finished with three hits for Keuka, a season-high and tying his career-best
- Along with Murphy and Vaccaro, Josh Tryon, Connor Springer, and Shane Daley all had multi-hit games for the Wolves

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will enter Empire 8 play this weekend. The Green and Gold will travel to St. John Fisher College to face the Cardinals. The three-game series opens with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 1, and concludes with a single game the next day.
