Box Score CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Keuka College baseball team (6-14-1, 6-14-1E8) won the opening game of the Empire Eight Tournament against Elmira College on Tuesday May 11, 2021

Elmira College got on the board first with one run in the first inning. Keuka College responded back with a walk from Nick Brown who would come around to score from a single from Aaron Simons making the score 1-1.
In the top of the second inning the Soaring Eagles would score 9 runs from Keukas miscues in the field extending their lead 10-1. The Green and Gold bounced back with a single from Dave Verrett and a triple from Josh Tryon . Tryon scored on a pass ball. To keep things going Maxwell Yale singled through the left side and Brown worked the count for a walk. Ryan Seales singled through the right side and Yale would come home. Simons grounded out to the first baseman but earned an rbi as Brown crossed home plate shortening Elmira's lead by five.
The fourth inning was a huge inning for the Wolves. They started it out with a walk from Seales, Tyler Broderick hit by pitch and another walk for Simons to load the bases. Soaring Eagles defense throughout Seales at home but Matt Vaccaro singled to third base and Broderick scored. Verrett followed with a single to left field and scoring is Murphy and Simons. Tyron hit his second triple of the night to right field to clear the bases and score two more runs. The Wolves then took the lead 11-10.
In the bottom of the sixth Vaccaro bunted for a single. Tryon then tripled to score Vaccaro. Yale grounded out but coming home was Tryon to extended to the lead 13-10. Elmira fought back gaining two runs in the top of the seventh to shorten the Keuka lead 13-12.
The bottom of the seventh inning Seales worked a walk and took two bases on two wild pitches to get him in scoring position for Broderick to knock him in on a single to center field. In the Bottom of the eighth the Green and Gold scored one more from Seales who singled though the left side to score Yale who singled up the middle. The Wolves would hold the Elmira batters here and take the victory 15-12.
Lead Wolf: Freshman Josh Tryon had a huge day at the plate he went 4-5 with three triples. He scored three himself and had four rbis on the day.
KC Notes:
- Today's win was the first E8 Tournament win in any sport in school history.
- Josh Tryon's three triples in a single game is a new Keuka College record. He is the first person in school history to have three in one game. He is just the second player to do it in D3 baseball this year.
- Joe DiBenedetto had a career high of four strikeouts on the mound and 4.2 innings pitched which is a new career high
