Box Score 2 HOUGHTON, N.Y. — The Keuka College Baseball team was swept in an Empire 8 doubleheader on Friday afternoon at Houghton College.
Keuka College (4-8, 4-8 Empire 8) dropped the opener 9-6. The Wolves then fell in the nightcap 15-5 in seven innings.
Houghton College 9 vs. Keuka College 6 – Game 1
After the hosts plated a run in the bottom of the first, the Green and Gold responded in the second. The Wolves took advantage of an error by the Highlanders to tie the game. RJ Murphy then put a charge into the ball and doubled to score Matt Vaccaro and give Keuka College a 2-1 lead.
The lead would be short-lived as Houghton scored five in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by a grand slam to make it 6-2. The Wolves would chip away throughout the game. Keuka was down 9-4, but an RBI double by Nick Brown in the fifth and RBIs from Murphy and Ryan Seales made it a 9-6 game.
The Wolves got a leadoff single by Aaron Simons in the seventh. Brady Booher would later single with one out to bring the tying run to the plate, the Highlanders would escape the threat as they defeated Keuka College 9-6 in game one.
Lead Wolf: Aaron Simons had a pair of hits for Keuka College in game one. The sophomore has recorded a hit in each of his last five games.
Houghton College 15 vs. Keuka College 5 (7 innings) – Game 2
The Highlanders took control of the game from the beginning, scoring nine runs in the bottom of the first and added a tally in the second. The Wolves got on the board in the fourth inning. Singles by Ryan Seales and Cade Dick were cashed in on a Josh Tryon double to make the score 10-2. Tryon came home on a Logan Klice single and Klice scored on a hit by Maxwell Yale.
Houghton responded with five more runs in the bottom of the inning to make it 15-4. The Wolves got one back in the seventh, but that would be it as Houghton defeated Keuka College 15-5 in game two to complete the sweep.
Lead Wolf: Josh Tryon had a strong game despite entering in just the fourth inning. Tryon had a pair of hits including a double. He drove in two runs and scored one himself.

- Keuka College falls to 2-5 all-time against Houghton College
- The Wolves are now 2-6 when playing at Houghton College. The two wins have come in neutral site games. Keuka has not defeated Houghton on their home turf (0-4)
- Daniel Steve got the start on the mound in game one and struck out five. Steve moved into sixth on the career strikeout list with 88 in his career
- Aaron Simons recorded a hit in both games on Tuesday. After going hitless in his first game, the sophomore has recorded a hit in his next six games played
- The combination of Simons and Tyron at third for Keuka went 5-8 on the day with two runs scored and two runs driven in
Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will have the weekend off before playing three more against Houghton College next week. Keuka College will host Houghton in a doubleheader on Monday afternoon and a single nine-inning game on Tuesday to wrap up the season series with the Highlanders. First pitch from Kuhl Field on Monday is set for 1pm.
