Wolves Close Spring Trip with a Win

Box Score

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Keuka College Baseball team ended their spring trip to Florida on a high note with a 5-3 victory over Thomas College on Tuesday morning.

Rob LaRue had a career day at the plate for the Green and Gold. The senior went a perfect 4-4 at the plate, a career-best. He also drove in a run, scored a run, and stole a base. Dan Bamann and Dave Nuzzo each doubled in the win.

Junior Ryan Caroway earned the win on the mound for the Wolves. He went seven strong innings, allowing just four hits and striking out three. Freshman Dave Verrett pitched the final two innings to earn his first collegiate save.

Keuka College 5 vs. Thomas College 3

Pitching dominated the early innings between Keuka College and Thomas College as the two teams were scoreless into the fourth inning. The Wolves broke through there with a run, but the Terriers tied it back up in the bottom of the fifth. A pair of errors in the top of the seventh inning allowed Keuka to take a 3-1 lead. The teams would trade runs with Thomas scoring a run in the bottom of the seventh and eighth, and Keuka adding runs in the eighth and ninth. The Wolves would never relinquish the lead as they would defeat Thomas College 5-3.

Lead Wolves: Rob LaRue and Ryan Caroway were the two stars on the day for Keuka College. LaRue set a career-high with four hits and it was the fifth time in his career that Ryan Caroway has pitched at least seven innings for Keuka College.
