Box Score 2 KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Baseball team swept the Cazenovia College Wildcats in a North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday.
Keuka College (8-6, 2-0) will be back in action at Kuhl Field on Tuesday, hosting D'Youville College in a doubleheader.
Game 1
Keuka College had a season-high 17 hits in the first game against the Wildcats. Cazenovia took a lead in the first, but Keuka responded in the bottom of the inning. Jake Redding walked and Billy McDermott singled to lead the inning off. Kyle Dailey doubled to left centerfield to score both runners and give Keuka a 2-1.
Cazenovia answered with three runs in the top of the second inning. The Wildcats would lead 8-5 going into the bottom of the fifth inning.
Brett Fenton led the inning off with a single. He scored from first during the next at bat. Freshman Dan Bamann doubled to right to score Fenton. A walk and a bunt single by Redding loaded the bases. With one out, Dailey hit is second two-run double of the game to tie the game. Keuka took the lead on an RBI single by Robert LaRue. At the end of the inning, Keuka held an 8-5 lead.
The runs came in support of Kevin Franz. The sophomore entered the game in the fourth inning and allowed just one run over three and a third innings of work. In the seventh inning, Cazenovia had runners at the corners with one out. Keuka turned to Ryan Lawrence in relief. He got a pair of strikeouts to escape the inning. Lawrence finished with five strikeouts and just one hit in two and two thirds innings to earn the save and secure the 11-8 victory for Keuka.
Game 2
Cazenovia struck first once again, scoring a run in the first inning, but the rest of the game was all Keuka. The Green and Gold had RBI singles by Bamann, LaRue, Redding, and Bamann a second time as they took a 7-1 lead after three innings.
Brett Fenton hit an RBI triple in the fourth inning for Keuka. Dan Bamann followed that up with an RBI double to score Fenton. Tyler Krowiak also had an RBI double in the game as Keuka defeated Cazenovia 16-1.
Kyle Michaud got the win on the mound for Keuka. The senior allowed just three hits over six innings. Michaud struck out six batters, earning his third win of the season.
