Box Score The Keuka College women's lacrosse team saw 11 different student-athletes score goals Saturday afternoon as the Storm won their North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opener, 19-5 over host Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster, Pa.
Junior Maggie Bonafede (Churchville, NY/Churchville-Chili) led the way with eight points on two goals and six assists while classmate Taylor Smith (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) added one goal and three assists to pace the Storm (3-2, 1-0 NEAC).
Sophomores Jennifer Burt (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan) and Kaycee Maguire (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam) each added three goals and one assist as Keuka scored its most goals since a 20-2 home win over Wells College on April 10, 2012.
Junior Meghan Storie (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse), sophomore Ashley Swarts (Arkport, NY/Arkport) and freshman Angela Smith (Stewartsville, NJ/Stewartsville) each added two goals for the Green and Gold, who scored the last eight goals of the opening half to take a 12-2 halftime lead.
Senior Sam Layton (Painted Post, NY/Corning West), junior Caroline Arancio (Clinton, NY/Clinton), sophomore Olivia Hudson (Adams, NY/South Jefferson) and freshman Samantha Staino (Brockport, NY/Brockport) rounded out the scoring for the Storm.
Smith set a season-best by winning 17 draw controls as Keuka won 23 of 26 draw controls. Senior Molly Hogan (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) made three saves for the win.
Keuka travels to Wilson College for an 11 a.m. clash Sunday morning before returning home to play the College of St. Elizabeth (April 13) and Penn State-Abington (April 14).
