Box Score 2 The Keuka College baseball team traveled to Allegheny (Pa.) College Saturday for a non-conference doubleheader, and the Storm dropped both games at Pullman Park in Butler, Pa.
Senior Keith Prestano (Queens, NY/Xaverian) went 2-for-2 with an RBI double and freshman Tom Fowler (Batavia, NY/Elba) drilled an RBI triple during the first game, but Keuka lost 13-4 in the first game.
In the nightcap, the Storm (0-5) allowed three first-inning runs and fell to the Gators (9-5) by a score of 4-2. Freshman Arek Olson (Wellsville, NY/Wellsville) had an RBI single and junior Jeremy Pyszczynski (Alden, NY/St. Mary's) allowed four runs over five innings, compiling four strikeouts while surrendering 11 hits in the start for the Storm.
The Green and Gold led 2-0 after the top of the first in game one. Freshman Billy McDermott (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) drew a leadoff walk, stole second base, advanced to third on a groundout and scored on sophomore Jon Borchert's (Upper Arlington, OH/Upper Arlington) groundout to third base.
Keuka eventually loaded the bases, and Prestano scored when sophomore Dylan Campbell (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) coaxed a two-out walk.
But the Gators capitalized on three errors and scored seven runs in the second and tacked on three runs in the third to take a 10-2 lead.
Fowler laced an RBI triple into right-center field to plate Prestano in the third, but Keuka couldn't get any closer.
Prestano reached base all four times, going 2-for-2 with a pair of walks, but the Storm were out-hit 12-6.
In game two, Allegheny pushed across three first-inning runs on a two-run triple and a sacrifice fly, but Keuka got a run back in the top of the second when Olson lined a single into left field to plate Fowler.
Pyszczynski held Allegheny scoreless over the next four frames, working through trouble in both the second and third innings, and the score remained 3-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth.
Ben Kirchler leadoff the inning with a triple and scored on Kyle Davis' RBI single up the middle for a 4-1 lead. Keuka got within 4-2 when Fowler scored on a throwing error in the seventh, but the Green and Gold couldn't complete the comeback.
The Storm are off Sunday before taking on Swarthmore (Pa.) College at 3:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.
