KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Lacrosse team scored the final three goals of the game to lift the Wolves to a 9-7 season-opening victory over Hilbert College at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex on Saturday.

The Wolves struck 1:08 into the game on Saturday. Off of a restart left of the goal, Brandon MacDonell quickly snapped a 25-yard pass off right to the front of the cage, finding Will York for the dump-in goal. Hilbert responded with a pair of goals 29 seconds apart to take the lead. The Wolves responded with a MacDonell tally to tie the game. Nicholas Pipher set up Seth Spurgeon for a goal with 26 seconds left as Keuka led 3-2 after the first.

Hilbert College took the lead in the second. They held the Wolves off the board for over 10 minutes in the frame, scoring three goals themselves, as the Hawks led 5-3. The fifth goal was followed by a Keuka penalty, leaving Hilbert with the man-up. The Hawks had an errant pass, however, turning it over to the Wolves. Keuka got the clear and Will York cut to goal and scored on the man-down to make it 5-4 in favor of Hilbert. The Wolves attacked Hilbert's goal in the final minutes. The Green and Gold once again found the net in the final minute. Hayden Coakley found Nicholas Pipher for his first goal with 25 seconds left as the game went to the half tied 5-5.

Hilbert scored the opening goal of the quarter, but Michael Bellanca tied it with 5:49 left in the third. Both goalies played strong in the quarter as Dylan Hoad made four stops and Hilbert made five stops. The two goals would be the only in the quarter as the game would go to the fourth tied 6-6,

The Hawks wasted no time to start the fourth. Hilbert won the faceoff and scored 13 seconds in to take the 7-6 lead. The Wolves tied it up minutes later as Will York completed his hat trick and MacDonell got the assist. Hilbert would have a great advantage in the fourth as Keuka was assessed a two-minute penalty. However, Josh Moyer caused a turnover in the opening seconds of the extra-man opportunity and Keuka gained possession. The Wolves would be able to retain the ball and kill the entire penalty. With the numbers even, Nicholas Pipher put Keuka ahead 8-7 with eight minutes left to play. Hilbert once again got an extra-man chance, but Hoad came up big in goal with a key save to preserve the one-goal lead. Following the stop, Keuka cleared and Will York scored his fourth for the 9-7 advantage with 5:40 left to play. Keuka controlled possession to see the game out. They held the Hawks to only two shots after York's goal as the Wolves defeated Hilbert 9-7.
