Box Score KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Field Hockey team lost at home Friday night to Utica College 6-2 in an Empire 8 game at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.
Keuka College (1-4, 0-2 E8) got goals from Alyssa Muszak and Skylar Gilmore. Megan Makowski made eight saves in goal for the Wolves.

The Green and Gold had the first good opportunity of the game on Friday as Alyssa Muszak and Erin Patterson linked up to drove down the field. The final pass was just out of Muszak's reach, however, and was kicked away by the Pioneer goalie. Play would flip in Utica's favor. The visitors outshot the Wolves 10-1 in the quarter and led 1-0 after one.
Right off the start of the second quarter, the Wolves generated another good chance as Kirstin Billings weaved through the defense and into the circle. Billings' shot beat the keeper but slid just wide of the goal. Minutes later, Alyssa Muszak showcased her speed as she got the ball near midfield and outran the defenders for a breakaway. The senior finished the chance to tied the game at 1-1. The Pioneers were not deterred by the Wolves. They scored a pair of goals in the final five minutes of the second quarter to lead 3-1 at halftime.
The Wolves pulled one back in the third quarter, taking advantage of a corner chance. Laura Ramsey inserted the ball across the circle to Skylar Gilmore on the far wing. Gilmore lifted her shot from the end of the circle. The ball went over all the defenders. The goalie leaped and got a hand to it but was too high for her as well as the ball landed in the goal. The game would go of the fourth quarter with Keuka trailing Utica 3-2.
The Pioneers put the game away in the fourth, however. Utica scored two goals in the opening 2:28 of the final quarter. Utica held Keuka without a shot in the final frame and added a late insurance goal as they defeated the Wolves 6-2.
KC Notes:
- The Wolves are winless in three games against Utica. Friday was the first time Keuka College scored against the Pioneers. It was also the first time the two teams met since 2016
- The second quarter tally by Muszak was the tenth of her career, moving her into a tie for fourth on the career list with Shelby Lamb '20 and Taylor Lessard '20
- Skylar Gilmore moved into a tie for eighth on the career goals list with her tally. Gilmore leads the Wolves in scoring this year
- The Wolves defense helped out Makowski in goal with Skylar Gilmore and Emily Reynolds recording defensive saves in the game. Reynolds moved into a tie for fifth in the career rankings
Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will step out of Empire 8 play for the next three games. Keuka College will next be in action as they host Medaille College for the first time on Thursday, September 23 at 7pm. While it is a non-conference game this year, it will be a preview of a future Empire 8 showdown as the Mavericks will join the conference next season.
