Box Score 2 KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College (3-8, 3,8 E8) lost both games against Utica College on Tuesday in an Empire 8 Conference matchup.
Utica College 3 vs. Keuka College 2 – Game one
The first four innings of today's ball game was a straight pitching duel for Whitney Tyler. Sage would score first in the fourth inning but only crossing home plate once.
Keuka would add one and tie the game in the sixth inning with a single from Hayley Gorges who would come around to score by a single form Helena Hill
In the seventh inning the Gators added another run to take the lead. The Wolves however would respond back with a single from Jordan Cole and she would score from a double to left field form Kelsey Mohl to tie the game and go into extra innings.
Russell Sage would get another in the top of the eighth inning. The Wolves couldn't answer back in the bottom of the inning as the Gators took game one 3-2.
Lead Wolf: Starting pitcher Whitney Tyler had a day in the circle for Wolves. She stuck out 11 batters. Allowed five hits and pitched the complete game.
Utica College 7 vs Keuka College 1 – Game two
The Gators would get on the board first in the first inning scoring two runs. Mohl would lead things off in the second inning and get a single. Shelby Burgess followed and singled up the middle. Gorges would bunt and move the runners. Senior Danielle Bosch grounded out to the shortstop but scoring is Mohl.
The Gators would add three more runs in the fourth inning and two more in seventh extending their lead by six. The lead would be too far for the Wolves as the Russell Sage took the second game 7-1.
KC Notes:
- This was the first time in school history Keuka College and Russell Sage played each other.
- Whitney Tyler stuck out 11 batters in game one, setting a new career-high. This last happened in 2019 by Colleen Mooney.
- Tyler also passed Allison Richter for fourth on the Keuka College Career Strikeouts with 183 over her four seasons.
