KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Lacrosse team lost on Saturday at home to Hartwick College 19-7 in an Empire 8 Conference matchup.  

Madeline Greene led Keuka College (0-3, 0-3 Empire 8), scoring her first career hat trick. Sadie Bonetti added a pair of goals and Victoria Castiglia set a new career-high with 10 saves in goal.

The Hawks took advantage of an early free position opportunity to take the lead in the first minute against the Wolves. The visitors would build a 5-0 advantage before Greene got Keuka on the board with 21:09 left in the first half. Hartwick responded with five more goals to extend their lead. The two teams traded goals late with Sadie Bonetti getting both tallies, but Hartwick led 13-3 at the half.

The Green and Gold got on the board first in the second half as freshman Sydney Carr scored her first career goal. For every goal Keuka would score, however, Hartwick had an answer. Madeline Greene completed her hat trick in the second, but the Wolves would never get the margin closer than nine as Hartwick College continued onto the 19-7 victory.

KC Notes:

• The Wolves are now 3-4 all-time against Hartwick College. The Hawks have won the last three meetings
• Keuka College controlled possession from the draw, but could not take advantage of it. Keuka had a 17-10 advantage in draw controls
• Sydney Bloom collected nine of the draw controls. The senior now has 80 in her career, moving into eighth place on the Keuka College career list
• Seven goals for the Wolves marks a new season-high

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves have a week off before return to action, this time on the road. Keuka College will play at Alfred University next Saturday at 1pm. The Wolves and Saxons have faced each other recently in non-conference play with Keuka winning the last three meetings. The game against the Saxons last season was the only one for Keuka College before the season was canceled due to the pandemic.
