Nationally-Ranked Cardinals Down Wolves 26-4

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — Keuka College lost 26-4 to #14 ranked St. John Fisher College in an Empire 8 matchup under the lights at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex on Wednesday.

Keuka College (0-2, 0-2 Empire 8) was led by Chris Bellanca with three goals. Freshman Nicolas Pipher add his first career goal in the loss.

#14 St. John Fisher College 26 at Keuka College 4

The Cardinals controlled the ball in the first quarter against the Wolves. St. John Fisher won all nine faceoffs and outshot Keuka 25-3 in the quarter. St. John Fisher led 8-0 after the first.

The visitors continued to press the Wolves and built a 14-0 advantage. Keuka College struck back with a pair of goals at the end of the half. Chris Bellanca netted both for Keuka with Kasey Gallina and Andrew MacDonell earning the assists. St. John Fisher led 14-2 at the half.

Keuka College would get a goal in each of the remaining quarters. Nicholas Pipher scored for Keuka with 31 seconds left in the third quarter. Chris Bellanca then completed the hat trick in the fourth, but the game was in the hands of the Cardinals. St. John Fisher continued onto the 26-4 victory.

KC Notes:

  • Keuka College played St. John Fisher every season from 2002 to 2010. Wednesday was the first meeting since then. The Wolves are 2-8 all-time against the Cardinals
  • Jared Hurlbutt started and made seven saves for Keuka. Shaun Murphy played the final 19 minutes and recorded four saves.
  • Andrew Peterman won five faceoffs for the Wolves and scooped up a career-best five groundballs
  • Wednesday was the tenth time Keuka College has faced a ranked opponent. The Wolves are still looking for their first win in those games. It is the third time that Keuka has faced a ranked St. John Fisher team

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will remain on their home turf at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex on Saturday as Keuka College hosts Utica College. The Wolves have had a good series running with Utica. The two teams have alternated wins in their last five meetings, with Utica winning the last matchup in 2019 16-6.
