Box Score KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Field Hockey team lost a non-conference game to SUNY Geneseo 4-1 on Wednesday at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.
Laura Ramsey scored for Keuka College (4-8) in the fourth quarter. Megan Makowski made eight saves in goal for the Wolves.
SUNY Geneseo 4 at Keuka College 1
Keuka College opened the game on Wednesday with quality defense, holding the Knights at bay. SUNY Geneseo had seven shots in total in the opening fifteen minutes but a combination of blocks and saves kept the game scoreless. The Wolves had a good chance later in the frame as Laura Ramsey drove the ball into the Geneseo end, but Keuka was unable to connect the final pass as the game remained scoreless after the first.
The Wolves had a good push early in the second, but it would be Geneseo who claimed the first goal of the game. Megan Makowski made a save on the left post. The rebound went back to the shooter who sent it across the goalmouth to her teammate on the far post for the goal. The Knights added a second goal in the quarter and led 2-0 at the half.
The Knights controlled a lot of the third quarter and had a 4-0 advantage in corners. The final attempt proved fruitful for the visitors as they hit home a shot off a rebound in the final minute to lead 3-0.
SUNY Geneseo added to their lead midway through the fourth as they converted a penalty stroke to make it 4-0. Keuka was able to take advantage of corners themselves later in the quarter. Off a corner, the ball made its way to Skylar Gilmore on the wing. Her shot rattled off the post, but Laura Ramsey was there to hit home the rebound. The goal by Ramsey capped the scoring on the afternoon as SUNY Geneseo won the game 4-1.
