Wolves Score 21 in Women's Lacrosse Victory

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Lacrosse team defeated Elmira College 21-11 on Saturday in their home opener at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

Keuka College (2-0) had five players score at least three goals. Vera Freda and Abigail Wood each scored four in the game. Vanessa Tsarevich, Brenna Voigt, and Kendall Neuberger each recorded a hat trick with three goals in the win.

Keuka College 21 vs. Elmira College 11

The Soaring Eagles scored first on Saturday, but Keuka College responded with a goal 31 seconds later. That sparked a 3-0 run as Keuka built an early lead. After Elmira got one back, Keuka had four goals scored by for different players as the offense was spread out on Saturday. The Wolves pushed the margin to nine goals at 12-3, but Elmira got one back with just under five minutes left in the half. The game went to halftime with Keuka leading 12-4.

Elmira College came out of halftime with two quick goals just 25 seconds apart. Vanessa Tsarevich stopped the small run with a free position goal, but the Soaring Eagles had an answer cutting the lead to six, 13-7. Keuka responded with four answered to build a 10-goal lead over Elmira. The teams matched each other's goals down the stretch as Keuka College continued onto the 21-11 victory.

  • The win was the first in program history for Keuka College over Elmira College. The Soaring Eagles have won the previous three meetings
  • The Wolves start the season 2-0 for the first time since the 2015 season
  • Vera Freda had added three assists to her four goals for seven total points to lead Keuka College and set a new career-high
  • 21 goals scored by the Wolves ties for fourth most in program history

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will take to the road for their next four games. Keuka College will travel to Alfred University on Wednesday to face the Saxons. They last met in 2016 with Alfred earning the victory, but Keuka College holds a 6-3 advantage in the all-time series.
