Wolves Earn Third Straight Victory

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Lacrosse team defeated Hilbert College by the score of 8-7 on Sunday in a North Eastern Athletic Conference game at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

Keuka College (5-6, 4-3 NEAC) got a strong effort in goal by Ally Thayer. The sophomore made 16 saves in the low-scoring game. Kendall Neuberger paced the offense with three goals and an assist. Morgan Bruno finished with a three-point game, scoring a goal and adding two assists for the Wolves.

Keuka College 8 vs. Hilbert College 7

Hilbert scored the opening two goals minutes into the game for the early lead. However the Wolves came back with three straight. Goals by Kendall Neuberger sandwiched a Vanessa Tsarevich tally as the Wolves took a 3-2 lead. Hilbert added a goal in the final 10 minutes of the half as the game was tied 3-3 at the break. The second half was a back and forth game. Hilbert took the lead, but the Wolves quickly tied it on Neuberger's third goal of the game. Once again the Hawks took the lead, but the Wolves tied it up at 5-5. Keuka then added two goals for the 7-5 lead. It was Hilbert's turn for the comeback as the Hawks scored two and the game went into the final minutes tied at 7-7. Vera Freda had the deciding goal as she scored on a free position shot with 3:57 left in the game. The Keuka College defense would hold it there as the Wolves defeated Hilbert College 8-7.

Free Positions Are Not Free: Hilbert College had a 13-3 advantage in free position shots over Keuka College on Sunday. However the Wolves scored two goals on their three opportunities, including the game-winner by Freda. Hilbert scored only one out of their 13 attempts with Ally Thayer making 10 saves against the Hawks.

Coming up for Keuka College: The Wolves conclude the 2017 season with a pair of home games next weekend. Keuka College hosts Penn St.-Abington on Friday, April 28 at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex. The Wolves will then conclude the season on Saturday against Bryn Athyn College on Parents and Senior Day.
