Tsarevich Scores in Overtime to Lift Keuka over Wells

AURORA, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Lacrosse team defeated North Eastern Athletic Conference foe Wells College 13-12 on Saturday in overtime.

Vanessa Tsarevich scored Keuka College (3-6, 2-3 NEAC) 40 seconds into overtime. Vera Freda led the Wolves with four goals. The freshman also added a pair of assists for a six-point game. Morgan Bruno and Kendall Neuberger each added three goals in the game for Keuka College.

Keuka College 13 at Wells College 12 - Overtime

The Wolves struck first scoring just over a minute into the game. They would grow their lead up to 6-2 in the half before Wells College began to battle back. The Express scored four unanswered to tie the game at 6-6. Neuberger and Freda each scored before the half as Keuka led 8-6 at the break. After the lead was pushed to three goals, 9-6, to start the second half, Wells went on another 4-0 run to take their first lead in the game, 10-9. After Keuka tied it, the Express scored twice to lead 12-10 going into the final 10 minutes of regulation. Bruno scored and then Jade Haumann scored with five minutes left to play to tie the game. Both teams had chances late to win it. Ally Thayer made a save on the Express off of a free position shot with a minute left to play to keep the game tied and bound for overtime. The Wolves won the opening draw of the overtime period and controlled possession. Vera Freda set up Vanessa Tsarevich for the game-winning goal 40 seconds into overtime as the Wolves defeated Wells College 13-12 on Tuesday.

Mirror Images: The game between the Wolves and the Express was extremely balanced. Each team caused four turnovers. Each team had 13 clears. Each team had four saves in the first half and three in the second half. And at the end of regulation, the total shots were tied at 25-25.
