Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – The Keuka College Softball team split a conference doubleheader with Cazenovia College on Monday afternoon.

Keuka College (15-9, 13-3 NEAC) won the opening game 12-9 but was shutout in Game 2, 2-0 by the Wildcats.

The Green and Gold will return to the field on Saturday as they host Penn College in their final home game of the regular season.

Game 1

Cazenovia scored first on Monday, but Keuka quickly took the lead back in the top of the second. Jessica Parmiter hit a ground rule double for Keuka and came around to score. The big hit in the inning came from Samantha Blum. The junior hit a two-run home run to tie the game at 3-3. The next batter was Mackenzie Cole. She hit one that beat the centerfielder and Cole came all the way around to score, giving Keuka a 4-3 lead.

The Wildcats answered with five runs in the bottom of the second and one in the third to take a 9-4. The Green and Gold would rally to tie the game in the fourth.

Nicole Wright led the inning off with a single and Sam Blum followed the up with a single of her own. The throw got away and the two moved up to second and third with no outs. Cole singled up the middle for Keuka to score both runners. A single by Mickenzie Palmer left runners at first and third. Cole scored on a fielder's choice, and the singles continued for the Green and Gold. Allyson Muller singled and Alysha Bachman and Jessica Parmiter each added RBI singles in the inning as Keuka was tied with Cazenovia 9-9 after four innings.

The tie was short lived. Sam Blum led off the top of the fifth inning with her second home run of the game to give Keuka a 10-9 lead. It was the fourth time in school history that a player hit two home runs in one game. Keuka added another run in the fifth and one in the sixth as insurance.

Starting pitcher Liz Warren shut out Cazenovia for the final four innings to secure the 12-9 Keuka College victory.

Game 2

Cazenovia once again got out to a quick lead over Keuka College. They pushed across one run in the bottom of the first for the early advantage.

Keuka threatened with bases loaded and just one out, but the Wildcats worked out of it to maintain their 1-0 lead.

Cazenovia added a run in the third inning. Keuka's only other threat came in the sixth when they got a pair of runners on, but they were unable to score. Cazenovia would shutout Keuka 2-0 to earn the split of the doubleheader.
