Beebe Sets Career Point Record in Men's Lacrosse Victory

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Senior Matt Beebe scored five goals and added six assists for 11 points in Keuka College's 17-2 men's lacrosse victory over Wells College on Tuesday at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.

Beebe now was 189 points in his career, surpassing the previous record of 188 set by Lucas Hopkins in 2004.

Keuka College (9-1, 5-0 NEAC) now focuses on Morrisville State College. The Green and Gold will host the Mustangs on Saturday, April 23 at 2pm in a rematch of last season's North Eastern Athletic Conference championship game.

Joining Beebe in scoring on Tuesday was Brendan King, Sam Cooper, and Andrew Burns. Each had a pair of goals on the afternoon. Adding a tally for Keuka was Tyler Skowronski, Patrick Giardino, Zach Dempsey, Ryan Waldron, Matt Mahalick, and Marco Carney.

The Green and Gold got out to a fast start against the Express on Tuesday. Burns got Keuka on the board within the first minute of play. Keuka added two, but Wells recorded the final goal of the first quarter to make it 3-1 Keuka after one.

Keuka College's offense came to life in the second half. Matt Beebe had his hand eight of Keuka's 10 goals in the quarter. He scored four goals and assisted on four others, including scoring with three seconds left in the half to the career point record.. Overall, Keuka outscored Wells 10-1 in the second. The damage could have been worse, but Wells made 11 saves in the frame to keep the score at 13-2 at the half.

Halfway through the third quarter, Beebe broke the career point record by scoring his fifth goal of the game. Andrew Burns also scored and Clayton Vaughn set up Patrick Giardino for a goal as Keuka led 16-2 after three quarters.

The final quarter would be scoreless until freshman Marco Carney scored his first career goal in the final minute to cap Keuka's 17-2 victory over Wells.
