Women's Lax Rolls on Senior Day

Sophomore Sydney Forshay (Clifton Springs, N.Y./Midlakes) scored a career-high six goals, and classmate Morgan Bruno (Seneca Falls, N.Y./Mynderse) matched her career-high with seven points (four goals, three assists) as the Keuka College women's lacrosse team remained perfect in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play with a 20-1 win over Bryn Athyn (Pa.) College Friday on Senior Day.

Senior Kaycee Maguire (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam) scored four goals, classmate Olivia Hudson (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) tallied two goals with two assists, and junior Samantha Staino (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) had one goal with two assists for the Wolfpack (10-2, 8-0 NEAC).

Keuka, the two-time defending NEAC postseason champion, travels to Morrisville State (8-0 NEAC) at 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon in a game to decide the winner of the NEAC regular-season title, and the school that will host the NEAC tournament, May 1-2.

Keuka has won the NEAC postseason championship in five of the last six seasons.

Against Bryn Athyn (3-7, 3-5), Maguire collected 9 groundballs, caused 6 turnovers, and won 4 draw controls, while Bruno had eight groundballs with three caused turnovers.

Hudson added 4 groundballs with 3 caused turnovers and 3 draw controls, and Forshay chipped in five groundballs with three caused turnovers for the Green and Gold.

Sophomore Kayla Robinson (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) made six saves to improve to 7-0.

The Wolfpack defense, led by seniors Maggie Mercurio (Whitesboro, N.Y./Whitesboro), Anna Patton (Newark, N.Y./Newark) and Amanda Kubitz (Spencerport, N.Y./E.J. Wilson), along with sophomores Samantha Peacock (Phelps, N.Y./Midlakes) and Taylor Willsey (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) held Bryn Athyn scoreless for the first 31:03.

Forshay scored four first-half goals, Bruno three, Hudson two, and Maguire and senior Jennifer Burt (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) added goals as the Green and Gold took an 11-0 lead into halftime.

Keuka enjoyed a 38-15 edge in groundballs, and extended its winning streak to six with the triumph over the Lions.

At halftime, Keuka paid tribute to its six seniors: Burt, Hudson, Kubitz, Maguire, Mercurio and Patton.

The group helped the Wolfpack post a 50-12 overall record that includes a 34-1 record against NEAC opponents.
