Women's Lax Remains Perfect in NEAC Play

The Keuka College women's lacrosse team remained perfect in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play after Sunday's 20-15 win over Medaille College in Keuka Park, N.Y.

Senior Jennifer Burt (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) scored a season-high five goals, while classmate Olivia Hudson (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) added a season-high five points on four goals with an assist as the Wolfpack (8-2, 6-0 NEAC) handed the Mavericks (7-3, 6-1) their first conference loss of the year.

Hudson won 6 draw controls, caused 3 turnovers and added 2 groundballs in the win.

Sophomore Sydney Forshay (Clifton Springs, N.Y./Midlakes) added three goals with one assist, while sophomores Morgan Bruno (Seneca Falls, N.Y./Mynderse) and Taylor Willsey (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) each added two goals with two assists as the Wolfpack won their 28th straight NEAC contest.

Sophomore Samantha Peacock (Phelps, N.Y./Midlakes) stopped a career-high 13 shots in the win to improve to 2-0.

Senior Kaycee Maguire (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam) added two goals with four groundballs, while junior Samantha Staino (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) scored two goals and won three draw controls for the Green and Gold.

Five different student-athletes scored a goal in the first 7:33 as the Wolfpack raced out to a 5-1 lead. Burt's first goal staked Keuka to a 5-1 lead with 22:27 remaining in the first, the first of three straight tallies for the attacker.

Emily Brophy (nine goals, two assists) scored on a free position goal with 13:32 remaining to pull the Mavericks within 7-4, but Keuka closed out the half on a 5-1 run to take a 12-5 lead into halftime.

Willsey scored twice during the run, while Bruno, Maguire and Staino added tallies for the Green and Gold.

Hudson's unassisted goal put Keuka up 13-5 just 34 seconds into the second, but Medaille scored the next three goals to trim the lead to 13-8.

Bruno and Burt scored on free position shots, and Forshay and Hudson added goals as Keuka scored four goals in a span of 5:06 to lead 17-8 with 16:49 remaining.

Medaille responded by scoring five of the next six goals to pull within 18-13 on Amanda Ruszczyk's unassisted goal with 8:58 remaining.

But Hudson and Forshay added goals down the stretch to help Keuka improve to 4-1 in home games.

With three NEAC contests remaining, Keuka (6-0 NEAC) trails Morrisville State (7-0) by one game for first place in the conference.

The Wolfpack travel to NEAC rival Penn State-Abington for a 4 p.m. clash Tuesday before hosting Bryn Athyn (Pa.) College at 4 p.m. Friday on Senior Day.
