Carly Sanford's Hat Trick Propels Women's Soccer

Box Score

Sophomore Carly Sanford (Macedon, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) recorded her second career hat trick to lead the Keuka College women's soccer team to a 7-0 win over Gallaudet (D.C.) University Sunday afternoon in Washington, D.C.

Freshman Nicole Browe (Kendall, N.Y./Kendall) added two goals and classmates Emily Wolf (Hornell, N.Y./Hornell) and Sarah Hartman (Macedon, N.Y./Wayne) each added goals to keep the Wolfpack (4-2, 4-0) undefeated in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play.

Sophomore Abbey David (Kendall, N.Y./Kendall) played a corner kick into Browe, who finished in the fourth minute to stake the Green and Gold to an early 1-0 lead.

Then Sanford, a third-team All-NEAC selection her freshman season, took over, scoring three goals during a span of 10 minutes and 23 seconds to break the game open.

Sanford scored on a rebound shot off the Gallaudet keeper for a 2-0 lead in the 13th minute, and off a corner kick from David, Sanford extended the lead to three on her header goal 41 seconds later.

Sanford completed the hat trick in the 23rd minute. Wolf hit the crossbar with her shot, but Sanford headed in the rebound for a 4-0 lead.

Browe pushed the lead to 5-0 after sophomore Kassandra Bailey (Fillmore, N.Y./Fillmore) lobbed in a pass from midfield to Browe, who went on a breakaway and scored with 2:09 remaining in the opening half.

Keuka College took a 5-0 lead into halftime, and Wolf extended the lead to six goals by blasting a 35-yard shot into the upper right corner of the goal 7:14 into the second half.

Hartman concluded the scoring on a penalty kick goal in the 64th minute.

Freshman Kenna Kosinski (Mumford, N.Y./Caledonia-Mumford) started and made one save in the first half, while junior Sophia Dimkos (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) made three saves during a scoreless second half for the Green and Gold.

The Wolfpack travel to NEAC rival Penn College at 1 p.m. Saturday before hosting the College of St. Elizabeth (N.J.) at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
