Men's Lax Stays Hot with Win Over Medaille

Senior Connor Latimer (Whitby, Ont./Father Leo J. Austin) scored five goals with one assist and junior James Voigt (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan) added four goals with two assists as the Keuka College men's lacrosse team stayed hot with a 24-8 win over Medaille College Wednesday night at All High Stadium in Buffalo, N.Y.

Sophomore Matt Beebe (Syracuse, NY/LaFayette) added five points on one goal with four assists, as did junior Cory Gray (Seneca Castle, NY/Midlakes), who  finished with four goals and an assist as the Storm (10-0, 6-0 NEAC) set a season-high for goals scored.

Senior Mike Donals (Livonia, NY/Livonia) added three goals while freshman Jamie Kuppel (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) had three goals and an assist as Keuka College scored 20 or more goals for the fourth straight game.

Sophomore Brendan King (Auburn, NY/Auburn) added two goals while freshman Matt Mahalick (LaFayette, NY/LaFayette) won 90 percent of his faceoffs (9 of 10) and senior Zachary Koczent (Geneva, NY/Geneva) won 66.7 percent of his faceoffs (14 of 21) as the Green and Gold dominated on faceoffs against the Mavericks (3-5, 3-2 NEAC).

Junior Eric Saltrelli (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) made 14 saves for the win to improve to 6-0. It was his third contest making double-digit saves.

Latimer and Kuppel each scored twice as the Storm opened up a 4-0 lead just four minutes into the contest. Gray and Voigt each added a pair of goals and King added a tally as the Green and Gold took a 9-2 lead into the second quarter.

The lead grew to 13-2 after Latimer, Voigt, Kuppel and Gray all poured in goals in a span of 1:39 early in the second quarter. Latimer, Gray, King and Beebe added tallies in the final three minutes of the quarter to stake the Storm to a 17-3 halftime lead en route to the win.

Senior Kenny Cannon (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) scooped up seven groundballs, Koczent and Voigt added five groundballs apiece and senior Nick Judge (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) had four groundballs as the Storm enjoyed a 36-15 edge in groundballs.

Cameron Ferguson scored four goals with two assists for the Mavericks.

The Storm, the three-time defending NEAC postseason champions, close out the regular season with home games against SUNYIT (4 p.m., April 22) and SUNY Canton (4 p.m., April 25).
