The Keuka College softball team continued its recent hot streak, sweeping a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) doubleheader from Cazenovia College on a sunny Sunday in Keuka Park, N.Y.

Keuka College (7-5, 7-1 NEAC) won by scores of 10-1 (five innings) and 3-1 to earn the sweep and run the winning streak to six.

The Storm used the mercy rule in the opener as freshman Samantha Blum (Niskayuna, NY/Colonie) was 2-for-3 with two RBI, classmate Tally McDonald (Romulus, NY/Romulus) added a two-run double and sophomore Mackenzie Cole (Ogdensburg, NY/Ogdensburg Free Academy) drilled a two-run triple in the win.

Senior Danielle Gravel (Sidney, NY/Sidney) was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and also won her third straight start by allowing one earned run on seven hits with five strikeouts and no walks.

The Green and Gold scored seven first-inning runs to seize control for good. McDonald smacked a two-run double, Blum followed with a two-run triple and freshman Janel Prince (Holley, NY/Elba) drove home a run on a groundout as Keuka College took a 5-0 lead.

With two outs, senior Deliane Lessard (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) drilled a two-run single to give the Storm a 7-0 lead heading into the second.

Gravel struck out three of the first seven batters she faced before Cazenovia (5-13, 4-2) pushed across a run in the top of the third.

But after Gravel singled and sophomore Nicole Wright (Seneca Castle, NY/Midlakes) walked in the bottom of the inning, Cole plated them both with her triple to left field for a 9-1 lead.

The Storm closed out the scoring on a fielder's choice from freshman Brianna Long (Arkport, NY/Dansville) in the fourth.

In the nightcap, three of the first four Cazenovia batters singled to stake the Wildcats to a 1-0 lead. The Storm pulled even in the second on a throwing error, and took the lead for good in the bottom of the third.

Senior Jill Hart (Cowlesville, NY/Iroquois) led off with a walk and sophomore Ally Muller (Bath, NY/Haverling) drove her home with a triple to left field. McDonald then walked and stole second to put runners at second and third with nobody out, and Blum extended the lead to 3-1 on a sacrifice fly to left field.

Sophomore Liz Warren (Elmira Heights, NY/Thomas A. Edison) made the lead stand up. She struck out three batters in the fourth and improved to 4-2 after allowing one earned run in the complete-game win. Warren struck out eight and only issued one walk in winning her third straight decision.

The Storm won the second game despite being out-hit 10-5.

The Storm are on the road for a 3 p.m. NEAC doubleheader with Wells College Wednesday afternoon before hosting SUNY Geneseo for a 3 p.m. doubleheader Friday and Wells College for a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday.
