Walk-Off Triple Helps Softball Sweep Morrisville State

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

GAME ONE BOXSCORE GAME TWO BOXSCORE
Junior Jill Hart (Cowlesville, NY/Iroquois) crushed a walk-off triple in the bottom of the seventh to send the Keuka College softball team to a sweep of Morrisville State Saturday.

Keuka (10-6, 10-2 NEAC) defeated the Mustangs (4-14, 4-8) by scores of 12-1 and 6-5 on a blustery Saturday afternoon.

After Morrisville rallied to tie the game at five on a two-run triple from Paige Jerrett in the top of the seventh, sophomore Kelly Proper (Silver Springs, NY/Letchworth) hit a one-out single up the middle before Hart sent the Storm faithful home happy with a triple to right-center field.

Hart finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI to lead the Storm. Freshman Jessica Parmiter (Cortland, NY/Homer) added a two-run single during a three-run fourth as the Storm took a 3-0 lead into the fifth.

But the Mustangs tied the score when Tiffany Burks belted a two-run home run over the center field fence in the tip of the fifth. Hart put the Green and Gold back on top with a two-run single in the bottom of the inning, and the score remained 5-3 until the seventh.

Freshman Liz Warren (Elmira Heights, NY/Thomas A. Edison) improved to 6-2 after surrendering five runs on nine hits. She struck out 10 batters and issued only one walk.

In the opener, junior Danielle Gravel (Sidney, NY/Sidney) allowed one run on three hits with two strikeouts to improve to 4-4.

Hart and junior Brooke Lovell (Arkport, NY/Arkport) had RBI triples and freshman Ally Muller (Bath, NY/Haverling) added an RBI double as the Storm took a 3-0 lead after one inning.

Proper belted a two-run double during a five-run second as the Green and Gold led 8-1, and after scoring four more runs in the fourth, the Storm prevailed via the mercy rule.

Keuka hosts rival SUNYIT at 1 p.m. Sunday on Senior Day. Hart and Montana McDonald (Romulus, NY/Romulus) will be honored for their hard work and dedication to the softball program.
