Balanced Men's Lax Wins 7th Straight

Box Score

Freshman Brendan King (Auburn, NY/Auburn) scored a career-high five goals while sophomore Cory Gray (Seneca Castle, NY/Midlakes) added four goals and senior Mike Crumlish (Hilton, NY/Hilton) tallied four assists as the Keuka College men's lacrosse team picked up its seventh straight win, 21-4 over Houghton College Saturday at Penn Yan Academy.

Junior Mike Donals (Livonia, NY/Livonia) added three goals and one assist while classmate Connor Latimer (Whitby, ON/Genesee Community College) added two goals and two assists as 14 different student-athletes scored or had assists for the Storm (7-1) on Parents' and Senior Day.

Latimer now has 24 goals and 26 assists (50 points) in eight games. He ranks among the national leaders in points per game (6.25) and moved into second place on Keuka's all-time record book for assists in a season.

Latimer needs one assist to tie Justin Pecori's mark of 27 assists, set during the 2008 season, and is 10 points away from equaling Ryan Burton's mark of 60 points in a season, accomplished in 2007.

Junior Kenny Cannon (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa), sophomore Randy Gyergyek (Elma, NY/Iroquois) and freshmen Ryan Enright (Churchville, NY/Churchville-Chili) and Clayton Vaughn (East Rochester, NY/East Rochester) each added a goal and an assist as Keuka equaled their season-high for goals in a game.

During the Green and Gold's seven-game winning streak, Keuka has outscored its opponents 123-38.

Donals, King, Vaughn and freshman Tom Lupo (Auburn, NY/Auburn) each collected four groundballs while King caused five turnovers and Lupo caused four turnovers for the Storm, who caused 30 turnovers from Houghton (2-7).

Gray scored all four of his goals during the first 10:50 of the opening quarter and Latimer and King each added two goals as the Storm took a 10-0 lead after one quarter.

Houghton finally got on the scoreboard when Michael Ball scored an even-strength goal 1:09 into the second. But Donals recorded back-to-back goals just 39 seconds apart and Vaughn and freshman Sam Cooper (Corning, NY/Corning) added goals as Keuka took a 14-1 lead with 2:02 remaining in the opening half.

Freshman Dom Camblin (Newark, NY/Newark) stopped all four shots he faced for his first collegiate win. Sophomore Scott Thielman (Amherst, NY/Amherst) and junior Cameron Gormel (Rochester, NY/Gates Chili) combined to make four saves over the final three quarters for Keuka.

The Storm had a 56-33 edge in groundballs and were successful on 19 of 22 clear attempts while Houghton only converted six of 15 clear attempts.

Keuka hits the road to play SUNYIT at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
