Box Score 2 Coming off a non-conference home loss against the University of Pitt-Bradford, the Keuka College women's volleyball team rebounded nicely, winning three of its four matches during the two-day Hilbert College Invitational in Buffalo, N.Y.
Junior Paige Golden (Kent, NY/Albion) posted her fourth and fifth double-doubles of the season, recording a season-most 27 kills with 19 digs during a four-set win over D'Youville College and posting 14 kills and 16 digs during a four-set loss to Fredonia State as Keuka spilt its two Friday matches.
The Storm defeated D'Youville by scores of 25-23, 29-31, 25-23 and 25-19. Against Fredonia, Keuka lost the first two sets, 25-20 and 25-19 before winning the third, 25-23. But Keuka dropped the decisive fourth set, 25-19.
Sophomore Julia Coryell (Phelps, NY/Midlakes) recorded 18 digs, 3 kills and 2 service aces while junior Taylor Smith (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) added a team-leading 22 digs and classmate Jill Nolan (Johnson City, NY/Maine-Endwell) had 38 assists and five digs in the win over D'Youville.
Facing Fredonia, Golden led the way with her fifth double-double while Smith added 32 digs, Nolan had 21 assists and eight digs and sophomore Devan Curtis (San Clemente, CA/San Clemente) and freshman Morgan Eberley (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) each chipped in with six kills.
On Saturday, the Green and Gold (7-3) easily handled Keystone (Pa.) College, winning 25-7, 25-12 and 25-12 before sweeping Hilbert in the final match of the Invite, winning 25-17, 25-22 and 25-12.
Smith had 38 digs over the two matches on Saturday. Golden added 15 digs and eight kills, Eberley and junior Deliane Lessard (Rochester, NY/Genesee Community College) each had seven kills and Curtis served up five aces in the win over Hilbert.
Eberley sported an impressive .500 hitting percentage during the win over the Hawks, compiling seven kills with no errors on 14 attempts while junior Meg Houlihan (Elysian, MN/Minnesota State University) added five blocks in the sweep.
Taking on Keystone, sophomore Dani Alred (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) had a team-leading nine kills, Curtis added seven kills and sophomore Shante Paulo (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) added six kills as Keuka picked up its fourth sweep of the year.
Keuka hits the road for the first of three NEAC crossover competitions this weekend. The Storm will face Penn State-Berks and the College of St. Elizabeth on Saturday and Lancaster Bible College Sunday during the two-day crossover competition at SUNY Cobleskill.
