HORSEHEADS, N.Y. — The Keuka College Softball team was swept in an Empire 8 doubleheader on Tuesday at Elmira College.
Keuka College (6-19, 4-12 Empire 8) dropped the opener 15-8 to Elmira and then fell in the nightcap 6-4.
Elmira took the early lead in game one, but the Wolves answered on an RBI single by
Olivia Frank. The Wolves took the lead an inning later on a two-run single by
Grace Eagen to make it 3-1 Keuka.
The Soaring Eagles tied the game, but
Hailey Jasinski answered right back with a triple to score a pair. Elmira pulled one back, but the Wolves had a three-run fifth to extend their lead.
Lizzie Kocsis had an RBI single for the Wolves, the first hit of her career.
Katie Landers followed with a single that scored two to push the Keuka advantage to 8-4.
Elmira was quick to answer with four runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game. They then took the lead and put the game away as they scored seven in the sixth to defeat the Wolves 15-8.
In game two, Keuka took the early lead with a pair of runs in the top of the first.
Olivia Flynn led off the game with a single and would come around and score on a hit by
Lindsay Stuck. A single by
Grace Eagen scored Stuck as the Wolves took a 2-0 lead.
Elmira scored four in the bottom of the inning to take the lead in the game. The Wolves got one back on a single by Oliva Flynn in the second. Keuka then tied the game in the third as
Hailey Jasinski scored on a passed ball. However, the hosts scored a pair of runs in the fifth inning to take the lead back at 6-4.
Keuka College would get the tying run on base in the seventh, but the Wolves would not be able to capitalize as they fell to the Soaring Eagles 6-4.
The Wolves will be back in action on Friday as they play at Houghton University in a conference doubleheader.
