KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Softball team dropped both ends of an Empire 8 doubleheader to SUNY Geneseo on Sunday, falling 13-0 in five innings in game one and 6-5 in extra innings in game two.
Olivia Flynn led the offense, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs while also going the distance in the circle, striking out nine over eight innings for the Wolves in game two.
Grace Eagen added a hit and two RBIs, while
Giana Mruczek recorded an RBI single.
SUNY Geneseo 13 vs. Keuka College 0 (5 innings)
In game one, SUNY Geneseo jumped out early and controlled the contest from the start.
The Knights scored multiple runs in the opening innings and continued to apply pressure offensively, building a commanding lead.
Keuka College looked to respond offensively, but the Wolves were limited at the plate.
Katie Landers recorded the only hit for the Green and Gold.
SUNY Geneseo 6 vs. Keuka College 5 (8 innings)
Keuka College (2-9, 0-2 E8) came out strong in the opener, taking an early lead in the bottom of the first inning. Flynn led off with a double and later scored. Eagen followed with a two-RBI single to give the Wolves a 2-0 advantage.
SUNY Geneseo chipped away at the lead, tying the game at 2-2 on a solo home run in the fourth inning before taking a 3-2 advantage in the fifth.
The Green and Gold answered in the sixth inning. With runners on, Mruczek drove in a run with a single. Flynn then delivered again with a two-RBI double to reclaim the lead at 5-3.
However, the Knights rallied in the seventh, scoring two runs to tie the game and force extras. Geneseo then plated the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and held Keuka scoreless in the bottom half to secure the win.
