ELMIRA, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Lacrosse team used a strong second-quarter run to defeat Elmira College 12-4 on Friday afternoon at Campus Field.
Lainie Forde led the Wolves with five goals and an assist.
Liz Spin added three goals and two assists while controlling seven draws for the Green and Gold.
Brooklyn Ayers finished with a goal and three assists, and
Rylie Pratt scored twice for Keuka College.
Lauren Vitello made six saves in goal for the Wolves.
Keuka College 12 at Elmira College 4
The Green and Gold struck quickly as
Liz Spin opened the scoring just 42 seconds into the contest.
Lainie Forde followed with a goal, and Spin added her second of the game to give Keuka College an early 3-0 lead. Forde later scored again in the quarter to extend the advantage to four before Elmira responded with two late goals to cut the margin to 4-2.
Elmira trimmed the deficit to one early in the second quarter, but the Wolves quickly regained control.
Rylie Pratt started a 3-0 run for Keuka College, followed by goals from
Raegan Weissinger and
Brooklyn Ayers. The three goals came during a stretch where the Wolves capitalized on player-advantage opportunities, pushing the lead to 7-3 heading into halftime.
Keuka College continued to build momentum in the third quarter.
Lainie Forde and
Liz Spin scored just 16 seconds apart to extend the Wolves' lead.
Rylie Pratt later added her second goal of the afternoon off an assist from Forde to make it 10-3. Elmira scored late in the period, but Keuka College still carried a comfortable lead into the final quarter.
The Wolves sealed the victory in the fourth as
Lainie Forde added two more goals, including the final score of the game with just over two minutes remaining. Keuka College held Elmira scoreless in the final quarter to secure the 12-4 road win.
