Keuka College Drops Non-Conference Contest to Morrisville

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. The Keuka College Women's Lacrosse team was defeated by SUNY Morrisville 15-5 in a non-conference matchup at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex on Tuesday afternoon.

Lainie Forde and Jessica Miller  each scored twice for Keuka College (1-2). Rylie Pratt added a goal for the Wolves while Brooklyn Ayers and Liz Spin each recorded assists. In goal, Lauren Vitello made 18 saves for the Green and Gold.

SUNY Morrisville controlled play early, scoring three goals late in the first quarter to take the initial lead. The Mustangs continued to build momentum in the second quarter, adding five more goals to take an 8-0 advantage into halftime.

The Wolves broke through midway through the third quarter when Miller scored on a player-advantage opportunity off a feed from Spin. Keuka College added another late in the quarter as Pratt converted on a free-position shot with 21 seconds remaining to make it 12-2 heading into the fourth.

Keuka College found some rhythm offensively in the final quarter. Forde scored early in the period off an assist from Ayers to cut into the deficit. Miller added her second goal of the afternoon midway through the quarter. Forde then found the back of the net again in the closing minutes for her second of the game. SUNY Morrisville added three goals in the fourth quarter, including a player-advantage goal in the final seconds, to secure the 15-5 victory.

  • Miller scored her first career goal against the Mustangs and added a second later in the game
  • Despite allowing 15 goals, Vitello tied her career high in saves in a game with 18 on the day facing 44 shots
  • The Wolves committed a season-high 29 turnovers in the contest
  • In a fast-paced game, Keuka College recorded a season-high 17 clears
