HOUGHTON, N.Y. — The Keuka College Field Hockey team lost an Empire 8 Conference game at Houghton University 3-1 on Wednesday night.
Cassidy Scheftic scored the lone goal for Keuka College (0-6, 0-2 Empire 8).
Khadeeja Reed made six stops in goal for the Wolves.

The Highlanders controlled the play in the opening frame. They totaled six shots in the frame without allowing one against. However, only three were on goal, and Reed made those saves as the game was scoreless after one.
The game was poised to go to halftime scoreless, but the Highlanders took advantage of a late corner opportunity. It was Houghton's eighth corner of the half, and they capitalized on it, scoring with 11 seconds remaining in the half to lead 1-0.
Houghton doubled their lead midway through the third quarter. The frame was largely played for possession as Houghton's second goal was the only shot on goal by either team.
Keuka College continued to battle. They got the first corner opportunity with just over nine minutes left to play and made the most of it.
Cassidy Scheftic inserted the corner and then got the ball for the goal to cut the Houghton lead to 2-1. However, the Highlanders got that goal back 66 seconds later and continued on to the 3-1 victory.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will return home this Saturday for a non-conference game as a part of Green and Gold Celebration Weekend at Keuka College. The Wolves will host Wilson College at 12 p.m. at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex. It will be the first meeting between the Wolves and the Phoenix since Wilson defeated Keuka 2-1 in the 2018 Colonial States Athletic Conference Tournament.
