OSWEGO, N.Y. — The Keuka College women's volleyball team played two matches Saturday on Day two of the Oswego State Invitational, facing the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and SUNY Canton in rematches from earlier this season.
Keuka College (1-13) was swept by Pitt-Bradford in the opener before falling to SUNY Canton in a hard-fought five-set match.
Alessandra Castañeda surpassed 100 kills on the season with nine against Pitt-Bradford. She entered the match needing just one to reach the milestone. The first year then recorded a season best 20 kills against Canton.
University of Pittsburgh at Bradford 3 vs. Keuka College 0 – 30-28, 25-15, 25-13
Much like the first meeting between the two teams earlier this season, the opening set was back and forth. The score was tied at 13 before Keuka pulled ahead with a four-point run behind the serving of
Summer Elza, who recorded an ace during the stretch. Pitt-Bradford responded immediately with a four-point run of its own to even the score at 20. The Panthers closed the frame with a late surge to take the first set.
Pitt-Bradford carried that momentum into the second, leading throughout to grab a 2-0 advantage.
The Panthers dominated the third set, holding Keuka to 13 points to complete the sweep. The Wolves made a late push with a three-point run but could not extend the match.
SUNY Canton 3 vs. Keuka College 2 – 25-13, 25-19, 25-17, 25-23, 17-15
SUNY Canton controlled the opening set from start to finish, holding Keuka to 13 points to take a 1-0 lead.
The Roos carried the momentum into the second, leading nearly wire to wire. The Wolves made a late push behind Castañeda, but Canton held on to go up 2-0.
Keuka responded in the third with a six-point run early.
Sarah Bayly and Castañeda each tallied four kills, powering the Wolves to take the set and cut the deficit to 2-1.
Early in the fourth set, SUNY Canton appeared poised to close out the match with an 18-12 lead. The Wolves responded with a 13-5 run to take the set and complete the comeback. Castañeda added eight kills during the rally to force a decisive fifth set.
The fifth set was tightly contested, featuring six ties and four lead changes. SUNY Canton closed the match on a three-point run to secure the victory.

- Keuka fell to 0-2 this season and 8-15 all-time against Pitt-Bradford.
- Phoebe Swartz recorded a career-high two blocks against Pitt-Bradford.
- The Wolves are now 1-1 this season and 3-5 all-time against SUNY Canton.
- This was just the second five-set match in series history between the Wolves and Roos.
- Gabby Rodriguez served a career-high four aces against Canton.
