MORRISVILLE, N.Y. — The Keuka College Field Hockey team scored a season-high four goals on Friday, but it was not enough as they fell to SUNY Morrisville 5-4 in overtime in a non-conference game on Friday.
Keuka College (0-4, 0-1 Empire 8) got goals from
Tori Nelson,
Brianna Broadwell,
Jaime Harrigan, and
Emma Mantione against the Mustangs.
SUNY Morrisville 5 vs. Keuka College 4 - OT
The Mustangs struck first on Friday, scoring midway through the first quarter but the Wolves answered minutes later.
Mackennah Decker broke in on goal. Her initial shot was saved, but the ball laid loose in front of the goal. The two teams fought for it and
Jaime Harrigan won the battle, shoveling the ball into the goal to tie the game at one.
The Green and Gold took the lead five minutes before halftime. A long ball was played into the attacking circle. It deflected off a Mustang defender to
Emma Mantione on the right wing. She shot it back across goal and inside the left post to give the Wolves a 2-1 lead at halftime.
Morrisville tied the game in the third quarter with four minutes left in the frame. They then took the lead two and a half minutes later as SUNY Morrisville converted on a penalty stroke. The Mustangs took a 3-2 advantage into the final quarter.
Keuka College got their turn from the penalty spot four minutes into the fourth.
Tori Nelson stepped up for the Wolves and scored her program-record seventh penalty stroke goal to tie the game at 3-3. The Green and Gold took the lead 70 seconds later. The Wolves got a penalty corner.
Alexis Dodge inserted the ball to
Brianna Broadwell. Broadwell took the attempt on goal and scored as the Wolves pulled ahead 4-3. However, SUNY Morrisville scored with 1:05 left in the game to even the score at four and force overtime.
Morrisville controlled the ball early in the extra frame. The Mustangs got a corner and as they pressured the Wolves, Morrisville scored the game-winner 3:58 into overtime to defeat the Wolves 5-4 on Friday.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves have a fast turnaround as they are right back on the field at noon on Saturday. Keuka College will host Marian University at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex. The Wolves will face the Sabres from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin for the first time in any sport.
