KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — Keuka College Women's Volleyball kicked off their two day tournament with two wins. The Wolves beat Fredonia 3-0 in the first match, and the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford three sets to one in the second match.
Dayna Edholm led the way, combining for 32 kills across the two matches. First-year
Gabby Fenton was also an asset to the Keuka offense, totaling in 21 kills on the night.
Keuka College 3 vs. Fredonia 0 – 25-23, 25-18, 25-19
The day's first set was a close one, with the largest lead being just three points. The Wolves found themselves on the wrong side of the three-point lead down 17-20 but got their footing after a Blue Devils missed serve. After a service ace from senior
Casey Hunziker and a kill from
Nina Scott, the set was tied up at 20. Another successful attack from Edholm gave the Wolves the lead. Keuka was able to seal the deal on the first frame with a kill from Fenton.
Set two was a game of runs for the Wolves. The Green and Gold had a one-point lead with the score 10-9, and
Sydney Haust had back-to-back kills. Just one point later, Haust continued her success with back-to-back aces giving the Wolves a 15-10 lead. From there, Keuka was able to capitalize on the Fredonia errors, taking set two 25-18.
The Wolves got out to an early 7-2 lead forcing a Blue Devil timeout. The break proved to be useful for the visitors as they strung together the next three points. The three-point run ended with a service error, which
Gabby Rodriguez followed up with an ace. The match was finally put away with kills from Edholm and Haust to win the final set 25-19.

The match opened with a kill from middle blocker
Sydney Haust, who proved herself to be a valuable part of the Keuka offense in set one. The set ended the way it started, with a point scored by
Sydney Haust. The senior's ace helped the Wolves score a four-point run to win set one 25-18.
Points were scored back and forth at the start of set two until the Wolves were up 11-9. Keuka went on a four-point run, to which Fenton contributed two kills and an ace. The Panthers fought back after a timeout, eventually tying the set at 16. The Green and Gold then went on a three-point run and a five-point run, broken up by just one point from Pittsburgh-Bradford. The set ended with a kill from Fenton off of a
Summer Elza set to win set two, 25-21.
Set three was another close start, bringing the game to a 12-12 tie. The University of Pittsburgh-Bradford then went on a four-point run. Coach Fiser called for a timeout which was followed up with back-to-back Edholm kills. However, the Panthers responded with another four-point run. The lead was out of reach for Keuka and they dropped set three 17-25.
The Wolves came out with a vengeance in the fourth set. After a 6-6 tie, Keuka would lead for the rest of the frame. The team combined for 13 kills in the final set of the day, resulting in a 25-14 win. Keuka would win the match 3-1.
