The Wolves struck first and got on the board early with three goals to go up 3-0 in the first seven minutes of the game. All three goals were scored by senior Ian Rickard. The Roos went on to score five consecutive goals in the first quarter, to go up 5-3 going into the second.

The first goal of the second quarter was from senior midfielder, Dylan DeLucia. SUNY Canton scored the next goal and Keuka called a timeout to reset. Just 27 seconds out of the timeout, Devon Gerhardt found Harrison Root (Jefferson, N.J. / Jefferson Township) to close the gap on the Roo's lead. Canton controlled the rest of the quarter scoring three additional goals, until Nicholas Pipher (Auburn, N.Y. / Auburn) found the back of the net for the Wolves, and the game went to the break at 9-7 Kangaroos.

Out of the half, Pipher found the net again scoring his second goal of the game on a Gerhardt assist. For just the second time in the game, there was a tie score due to a Kaleb Glessing (Ontario, N.Y. / Wayne) goal from another Gerhardt assist. SUNY Canton found some momentum and scored back-to-back goals just 13 seconds apart. However, the Wolves were ready to answer and scored three additional goals to end the third quarter with the lead, 12-11.

The fourth quarter was all about defense, as there was only one score in the frame. SUNY Canton scored one goal to tie the game 12-12, forcing the game into overtime.

To start the sudden death overtime, Frankie Rivera (Penn Yan, N.Y. / Penn Yan Academy) won the faceoff and Robert Hill (Auburn, N.Y. / Auburn) collected the ground ball. Just 41 seconds into the fifth frame, Devon Gerhardt assisted a Harrison Root game-winning goal for the Wolves to win 13-12.
