KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Lacrosse team lost to Russell Sage College 17-7 in an Empire 8 Conference game at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon.

Devon Gerhardt, and
Harrison Root each scored a pair of goals for Keuka College (4-3, 0-2 Empire 8).

The Gators jumped out to the early lead, scoring three goals in the first three minutes of play. Pipher got the Wolves on the board with a goal, but Sage answered less than a minute later. Devon Gerhard gathered a loose ball in front of the goal and deposited it past the keeper to make it 4-2 with five minutes left in the first. The Wolves would go on the man-down with an unreleasable penalty and the Gators took advantage. Russell Sage scored a pair of goals to push their lead to 6-2. On the ensuing faceoff,
Robert Hill won the draw and broke downfield, still on the man-down. He dished it to
Matt Jerman to cut the margin to three.
However, Russell Sage went on a run. The Gators scored the final goal of the first quarter and followed that with six goals in the second quarter. The Wolves were held off the board in the second frame and trailed 13-3 at the half.
Russell Sage added one more to their run, finishing at eight straight goals before the Wolves answered back.
Harrison Root scored for the Wolves, snapping a 26-minute drought. Piper answered with a tally, but Sage scored with eight seconds left in the quarter to take a 15-5 into the final quarter.
The Gators scored a pair to open the third to start the final quarter. The Wolves scored the final two of the game, but the result was in control in favor of the Gators as Russell Sage defeated Keuka College 17-7.
Up Next for Keuka College: The Green and Gold step out of Empire 8 for a pair of games this week. The Wolves will play at Oswego State on Wednesday before returning home to host Hilbert College on Saturday.
