Wolves Shutout by Cardinals

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — Keuka College Softball lost two games in a doubleheader against St. John Fisher on Saturday afternoon.

Keuka College (11-18, 4-8 Empire 8) had two players record hits in both games. Olivia Flynn (Williamson, N.Y. / Williamson) and Emily VanDelinder (Corning, N.Y. / Corning) each had two hits on the day.
 
St. John Fisher 10 – Keuka College 0 (6 innings)

The Wolves found themselves with baserunners in the bottom of the first inning. Olivia Flynn hit a double to left field and was advanced to third on a fielder's choice play. Makenna DeMoney (Conklin, N.Y. / Susquehanna Valley) drew a walk right after, but both runners were left on base.

To start the second inning, the Keuka defense put away the first three Cardinal batters with pitcher Hali Jenner (Waverly, N.Y. Waverly) at the helm. The Wolves were unable to score in the bottom of the inning, leaving one runner on base.

St. John Fisher scored three runs in the third and fourth innings while keeping Keuka off the board. Jenner only saw three batters in the top of the fifth, keeping the game within three. The game went into the sixth inning with the Cardinals up 3-0.

The Cardinals found their offensive stride in the top of the sixth, scoring seven runs to get a ten-run lead. The Wolves were unable to respond in the bottom of the inning and lost game one 10-0.
 
St. John Fisher 12 – Keuka College 0 (5 innings)

St. John Fisher struck early, gaining a 3-0 lead after the first inning. Olivia Flynn continued to get things started for the Wolves and hit a single to right field. She reached second on a fielder's choice play but was left on base to end the inning.

In the top of the second, the Cardinals scored five runs to earn an 8-0 lead. Pitcher Haley Mascho (Bolivar, N.Y. / Bolivar-Richburg) slowed the Fisher offense, allowing for only three runs in the last two innings.

Emily Cutrona (Buffalo, N.Y. / West Seneca West) got things started for Keuka in the top of the fifth, with a single to center field. After leaving her on base, St. John Fisher won game two 12-0.
 
Up Next for Keuka College: The Green and Gold will remain on their home field on Sunday, with a conference doubleheader against Nazareth University. The afternoon games will also be Senior Day for the Wolves.
