Women's Lacrosse Downed by Gators

ALBANY, N.Y. — Keuka College Women's Lacrosse lost to Russell Sage College on Friday evening 15-5.

Keuka College (1-12, 0-6 Empire 8) had two student-athletes each score two points for their team. Grace Morse (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Canandaigua Academy) scored two goals for the Wolves while Alyssa Chase (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Marcus Whitman) contributed with a goal and an assist.

After a draw control collected by Liz Spin (Auburn, N.Y. / Auburn), it resulted in a Keuka lead. Alyssa Chase eventually found Brooke Bonetti (Seneca Falls, N.Y. / Mynderse Academy) for a Keuka goal to start the first quarter. The Russell Sage Gators responded with two goals to go up 2-1.

After the Gators scored early in the second quarter, Alyssa Chase found the back of the net for the Wolves to bring it to a 3-2 game. Russell Sage went on to score four additional goals to extend their lead to 7-2 at the break.

While the Gators scored three goals to start the third quarter, a Keuka goal began a groundball collected by Brooke Bonetti. Grace Morse scored with an assist from Liz Spin. Just 12 seconds later, Grace Morse scored her back-to-back goal to bring the Wolves within six. The Gators scored after 24 additional seconds to bring the score back to 11-4.

To start the final quarter. Grace Morse won a draw control for the Wolves. This resulted in a Tori Nelson (Vernon Center, N.Y. / Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) goal, to give the Wolves their last score of the game. Russell Sage scored the next four goals to win the game 15-5.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Green and Gold will host a game on Thursday, April 25 against Wells College. This will be the final game of the Wolves as they close the 2024 season.
