GREENVILLE, Pa. — The Keuka College Women's Lacrosse team lost at Thiel College 10-2 in a non-conference game on Wednesday.
Tori Nelson scored both goals for Keuka College (0-2).
Lauren Vitello made nine saves in goal for the Wolves.
Thiel College 10 vs. Keuka College 2
The Tomcats jumped out to an early 2-0 lead over the Wolves, but Keuka started to generate chances. The Wolves got a free position shot, but it was saved. A minute later,
Tori Nelson scored to make it a 2-1 game. However, Thiel quickly answered with two more goals to make it 4-1. Nelson got her second before the close of the quarter, scoring as the Wolves were a woman down.
The score would remain at 4-2 as neither team scored in the second. Vitello made a pair of saves for the Green and goal as Keuka trailed by two at the half.
The 4-2 score would remain for the first part of the third quarter as well. Thiel broke the drought with a goal with eight minutes remaining in the third. The Tomcats added three more to their total to take an 8-2 lead into the final quarter.
Keuka College led in shots 6-4 in the fourth quarter, but the Wolves were held off the board. The goal at the end of the first by
Tori Nelson proved to be the final goal of the game for the Wolves. Thiel added a pair in the fourth to defeat Keuka College 10-2.
KC Notes:
- Wednesday was the first time Keuka College has faced Thiel College in women's lacrosse. It was also the first time that the Wolves played any team from the President's Athletic Conference
- Liz Spin led the Wolves and posted a career-best six ground balls. Spin also had three caused turnovers in the game
- Jillian McGinley also had three caused turnovers. The senior now has 54 in her career, moving into a tie for tenth on the Keuka College career list
- Julia Bauder assisted on Nelson's second goal
Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves have a week off before their next game. It will be the home opener for the Keuka College Women's Lacrosse team. The Green and Gold will host Buffalo State on Wednesday, March 13. The game will start at 5 p.m. from the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.
