HAMBURG, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Lacrosse team won their first game of the 2024 season 18-2 at Hilbert College on Wednesday afternoon.
Tori Nelson (Vernon Center, N.Y. / Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) was the leading scorer with eight points consisting of five goals and three assists.
Brooke Bonetti (Seneca Falls, N.Y. / Mynderse Academy) was closely behind with six goals, and
Grace Morse (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Marcus Whitman) posted four goals and one assist.
Keuka College 18 vs. Hilbert College 2
Keuka controlled the game from the beginning and
Brooke Bonetti scored 1:34 into the game. The Wolves then scored the next four goals in the quarter, but the Hawks scored their first goal of the game with 46 seconds left in the first. The frame ended with the Wolves up 5-1.
The second quarter started a lot like the first, with a
Brooke Bonetti goal. Bonetti then scored another goal in the second period, and
Grace Morse added to the lead as well. The game went into halftime with the Wolves up 8-1.
A draw control from
Katie Deatherage to start the second half, resulted in another Bonetti goal just 1:12 into the half. Less than one minute later,
Tori Nelson found the back of the net after a
Grace Morse draw control. With 11:19 left in the quarter,
Tori Nelson scored on a free position shot to go up 11-1. The Hawks scored another goal, but it was answered with three Wolves, Nelson, Bonetti, and
Maddie Fassinger (Camillus, N.Y. / West Genesee) scoring. With 26 seconds left in the quarter,
Katie Deatherage found Bonetti for her final goal of the game to go up 15-2.
The first goal of the fourth quarter was on another free-position shot by
Tori Nelson.
Alyssa Chase (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Marcus Whitman) and
Jill McGinley (Syracuse, N.Y. / East Syracuse-Minoa) also found ways to score in the fourth period, while the Wolves held the Hawks scoreless during the frame. Keuka College won their first game of the season 18-2.
