ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Keuka College Baseball lost to Rochester Institute of Technology 21-11 in 8 innings on Wednesday.
Keuka College (1-12) had standout performances at the plate from multiple athletes.
Carlos Fantauzzi (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Canandaigua Academy) went 4-5 with three RBIs,
Donald Nemeth (Guilderland, N.Y. / Guilderland) went 2-3 with two RBIs, and
Brady Booher (Rochester, N.Y. / Eastridge) added two hits and an RBI for the Wolves.
RIT 21 vs. Keuka College 11 – 8 innings
The Wolves got on the board right out of the gate in the top of the first inning, and it started with
Alex Evans (Liverpool, N.Y. / Liverpool) drawing a walk.
Matt Vaccaro (Fayetteville, N.Y. / Fayetteville-Manlius) laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Evans to second and Fantauzzi brought him home with a double for the first score of the game. The next two batters drew walks which advanced Fantauzzi to third,
Donald Nemeth was then hit by a pitch to put Keuka up 2-0. RIT answered in the bottom of the first with a three-run home run to go up 3-2.
Mike Dutch (Manlius, N.Y. / Fayetteville-Manlius) started the second inning out strong with a double down the right field line and then advanced to third on a wild pitch. Dutch was brought home with a sacrifice fly hit by Vaccaro to tie the game. The next three batters,
Carlos Fantauzzi,
Kyle Wood (Newark, N.Y. / Newark), and
Derek Novicki (North Haven, Conn. / North Haven) all recorded hits for the Wolves and brought in two runs. The success at the plate forced a Tigers pitching change but Keuka kept their foot on the gas.
Donald Nemeth doubled to left center to bring in a run and
Brady Booher singled to right field to bring in the last run of the inning to go up 7-3. The Tigers scored in the next five innings without a Keuka answer to go up 18-7 going into the seventh inning.
The top of the seventh inning started with Nemeth and Booher drawing walks.
Owen Garvey (Meadville, Pa. / Meadville Area) put the ball in play and reached on a fielder's choice, but Booher was out at second.
Mike Dutch was hit by a pitch to load the bases, and an
Alex Evans walk brought in a run. With the bases still loaded, Vaccaro singled to third base and Garvey scored. This brought up a
Carlos Fantauzzi bases-loaded opportunity and he singled to left center to give the Wolves their last run of the game, down 18-11. The Tigers went on to score three additional runs in their next two opportunities and won 21-11 in eight innings due to the run rule.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Green and Gold will travel to Horseheads, NY for a three-game series over two days against Elmira College. The games this weekend will be the first conference games for the Wolves this season.
