Hartwick College 3 vs. Keuka College 2 – 25-21, 25-22, 24-26, 24-26, 15-8
Hartwick College slowly created separation over the Wolves in the first half. A four-point run gave them a 14-8 lead, forcing the Wolves into a timeout. Keuka College would keep the set close but never got the margin any closer than three as the Hawks took the opener 25-21.
The Hawks continued the momentum into an early lead in the second, but the Wolves rallied back to tie the set at 11-11 following a kill by
Nina Scott. Hartwick responded with four straight points but the Wolves came back to tie it again at 19-19. However, the Hawks responded again with four straight to regain the lead. Keuka cut it to one late, but Hartwick took the second 25-22 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
It was an extremely close third set, but the Wolves held a slight advantage most of the way. A four-point run pushed the Keuka lead to 19-14. Hartwick would come all the way back, however, to tie the set. The Wolves were unable to convert a pair of set points as the third would be tied at 24-24. But Keuka put it away. Hunziker had a kill for the Wolves and it was followed by
Nina Scott putting it to the floor to push the third set in favor of the Wolves 26-24.
Like the third, the fourth set was very close, but this time it was Hartwick playing with the slight lead. It would go down to the end. Keuka would survive a pair of set points with kills by Edholm. The Wolves then took advantage of a pair of Hawks miscues to score the final four points of the fourth, win the set 26-24, and force a fifth and final set.
Hartwick took the first three points of the fifth set, but the Wolves took the next three to tie it up. However, Hartwick would win five of the next six to force the change-over at 8-4. Following the flip, a five-point run put the game out of reach for Keuka College. Hartwick continued on to win the fifth set 15-8 and take the match in five.
