ALBANY, N.Y. - On Saturday afternoon, the Keuka College Baseball team was defeated by the Russell Sage College Gators in both games of a doubleheader.
Keuka College (6-19, 2-10 E8) lost to Russell Sage College 5-4 in game one. The Wolves then fell 4-1 to the Gators in game two.
Keuka College 4 at Russell Sage College 5 – Game One – 7 Innings
The Wolves took the lead in game one of their Saturday Doubleheader against the Gators.
Donald Nemeth (Guilderland, N.Y. / Guilderland) led off the top of the second with a walk and stole second.
Samuel O'Neil (Macedon, N.Y. / Ruben A. Cirillo) came up and singled up the middle to score Nemeth and put the Wolves up 1-0. O'Neil quickly stole second and was bunted over to third on a sacrifice by
Shane Daley (Elma, N.Y. / Iroquois). Tyler Lewandowski (Milltown, N.J / Spotswood)
 came up and singled to left to knock in the second run of the game for the Wolves.
The Gators scored their first run in the bottom of the third bringing the score to 2-1 and then scored four more in the bottom of the fourth off two singles, a hit batter, and a catcher's interference call against the Wolves.
The Green & Gold offense was not able to mount a comeback and trailed 5-2. In the top of the seventh, Lewandowski singled up the middle and
Matt Vaccaro (Fayetteville, N.Y. / Fayetteville / Manlius) found his way on base due to a Gators error.
Nolan Quinn (Aurora, OH / Walsh Jesuit) singled in both Lewandowski and Vaccaro to bring the Wolves within one. However, the Wolves' offense stopped there, and they ultimately fell 5-4 in game one of the doubleheader.
Lead Wolf: Nolan Quinn led the Wolves' offense with two hits on the day. Quinn had one stolen base in the game and two RBIs in the seventh inning in their attempt to come back against the Gators.
Keuka College 1 at Russell Sage College 4 – Game Two
The Gators took the lead in the bottom of the second in game two with a double to right center field knocking in two runs. The Wolves threatened in the third inning with runners on first and third but were unable to get a run across the plate.
The Gators knocked in another run in the top of the third and again in the top of the seventh to make the score 4-0. The Wolves found some offense in the top of the eighth with two outs. Lewandowski and Vaccaro both singled to the left side and
Nolan Quinn came up and singled to left field to knock in the first run of the game for the Wolves. That was the only run of the game the Wolves could cross and they would fall 4-1 to the Gators and lose the series 2-1.
Lead Wolf: Matt Vaccaro led the Wolves with three singles in game two of the doubleheader.
KC Notes:
- The Keuka College Baseball team is now 3-4 all-time against Russell Sage College.
- Shane Daley is now tied for second in the record book with 14 career sacrifice bunts.
- Samuel O'Neil threw three runners out in game one of the doubleheader. This is tied for second for most runners caught stealing in a single game.
- Tyler Lewandowski continues his career-best hitting streak at eleven games after this weekend's series.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Keuka College Baseball team is back home for the remainder of the 2023 regular season. The Wolves will take on Cazenovia College at 3 pm on Wednesday, April 26th before returning to conference play Saturday, April 29
th vs Medaille University at 1:00 pm.
